By day, South Central Kansas is scenically beautiful, and by night the region truly comes to life. The cities may not be known for skyscrapers, but don’t be fooled, the nightlife scene looms big with entertainment. Check out lively bars such as Pumphouse and cozy theaters like Orpheum Theatre both located in Wichita. This is a chance for an unforgettable night. But don’t take it too seriously, or do, we don’t judge.

Drum away with bands in Wichita

Let’s start strong in one of the largest cities in the region, Wichita, the Heart of the Country. There are plenty of places to watch some of your favorite bands. Check out WAVE and Brickyard for the best entertainers. INTRUST Bank Arena has numerous A-list celebrities put on iconic shows. Continue to have a good time at other local spots like The Cotillion or Temple Live.

For those looking for the night scene and some late-night munchies, visit Nortons Brewing Co. and Hopping Gnome Brewing Company, both in Wichita. Pick up a latte while listening to live music at Metropolitan Coffee in Hutchinson. Take on video games, beer and the best pub food at Headshots Bar & Grill. This region comes in hot with food, drink and nighttime entertainment.

Theatre venues serve up great entertainment

Theatres are scattered throughout South Central such as the historic McPherson Opera House and Hutchinson’s Historic FOX Theatre. Outdoor theatres are perfect during the warmer months at locations including Capitol Federal Amphitheater in Andover or Madison Avenue Central Park for Third Thursdays in Derby. You can find one of the longest-running outdoor theatres in Lindsborg at the Broadway RFD. Don’t forget to visit Strong City at the 1900 Theater or Burford Theatre in Arkansas City.

But that’s not all. Slot games and three delicious restaurants are waiting for you at the Kansas Star Casino. Stay, play and even catch a show in its arena in Mulvane. More annual events include Arkalalah in Arkansas City during its fall festival. Check out the annual Chili Cook-off and a Murder Mystery Dinner at the Historic Elgin Hotel in Marion. Catch open mic nights and live music at Emma Chase Friday Night Music in Cottonwood Falls. Let’s not forget about the annual summer Dam Jam in Goddard.
