How to Celebrate February National Days in South Central

February is a great month to spend in South Central Kansas. For not only the icon holidays such as Valentine’s Day, but also specific national days to get out and drink wine, eat great food, and have a fun time exploring the region.

Wineries 

February calls for wine, specifically National Drink Wine Day on Feb. 18. Head to Wichita to find the best wine spots, including Alzavino Wine Tavern. For wine tastings and all the events, check out Grace Hill Winery in Whitewater. Spend the day at Rosewood Creations. Visit the Rosewood Wine Cellar in Great Bend and then the Rosewood Winery in Pawnee Rock. Finally, stop by the Smoky Hill Under the Cork located in Lindsborg.

Italian Food

What is a better pairing than wine and Italian food? Get ready for National Fettuccine Alfredo Day, Feb. 7, and National Pizza Day, Feb. 9. Check out Luigi’s Italian Restaurant in Winfield, Genova Italian Restaurant in Newton, and Albero Café in Wichita. Indulge in a cheesy pizza at Speedway Pizza in Arkansas City and Ziggy’s Pizza at numerous Wichita locations.

Sweet Treats

For those seeking to satisfy their sweet tooth, Cocoa Dolce has plenty of chocolate around the city. Celebrate National Dark Chocolate Day, Feb. 1, and Chocolate Covered Nut Day, Feb. 25, in Wichita. Pick up frozen yogurt with a burger on National Frozen Yogurt Day Feb. 6, at Yo-B Yogurt & Burgers in Wichita. Discover more locations with sweet treat options.

One of the many Midwest delights is paring a nice bowl of chili with a cinnamon roll. Every Fourth Thursday in February, head to a local diner for National Chili Day. Find this delicacy at The Kitchen or the Old Mill Tasty Shop in Wichita. Head to Tanya’s Soup Kitchen on Feb. 4 for National Homemade Soup Day.
